All-In-One Electronic Speed Controller:
Our electronic speed controller (ESC) design is based on cutting-edge microcontroller and field-oriented control technology; which enables users to identify, tune, and fully control any type of three-phase, variable speed, sensorless, synchronous, or asynchronous motor control system.
This technology removes the need for a mechanical motor/rotor sensor, which helps to reduce system costs, and improve operation using a software encoder (sensorless observer) software algorithm embedded in the read-only memory of the microcontroller device.
DRF’s ESC enables premium solutions that improve motor efficiency, performance, and reliability in all variable-speed and variable-torque applications.
Advantages to Drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles:
DRF Engineering provides a new design to help drone manufacturers improve reliability through the durability, Artificial Intelligence, agility, and precision of DRF’s ESC systems.
The ESC’s field-oriented controls result in superior torque control, lower torque ripple, and – in many cases – improved efficiency compared to traditional aircraft control techniques.
The ESC includes a fully integrated set of inputs and outputs, designed to handle a wide range of drone requirements. This eliminates the need for additional external input/output modules.
Key Features:
- Speed control of three-phase brushless DC motors, with no position sensors needed
- Delivers up to 50A of a continuous motor current
- Telemetry and data logging for motor phase voltage, DC bus voltage, motor current, and temperature
- Operates over a wide range of voltages – between 30 and 100V – which is ideal for a hybrid power system
- Protection against overvoltage, under-voltage, overtemperature, overcurrent, and transient faults
- Isolated Controller Area Network interface
